Share a link to a specific message

Group chat members can easily share a link to a specific message, enabling them to quickly navigate to that message and find relevant information. This feature also enables group chat members to start a separate chat with anyone from the original group for a deeper dive into the topic.

  1. Hover over the message and select More options Three asterisks indicating more options menu > Copy link.

  2. After the link is copied, you can paste it in the same Teams chat, in another Teams chat or channel, in email, or in any other window.

Other group chat members can click the message link, which takes them to the specific message in the conversation history. The shared message will now be highlighted. If the message has been deleted, anyone trying to open it will receive a notification bar at the top of their screen.

Anyone not in the original group chat will not be able to access the chat message.

Tip: If you want to copy the contents of a message in Teams, see Copy and paste in messages in Microsoft Teams.
