Expired Warranty or Physical Damage to Devices
If your Surface device is out of warranty, damaged, or has a cracked screen, it may need to be replaced with a refurbished device.
If your device is out of warranty, either by expiring or from damage (physical or liquid), or has a cracked screen, it may be replaced with a refurbished device with our out of warranty service.
How much does out-of-warranty service cost for your Surface device or accessory?
Start the replacement process online
Go to Select device for service and follow these instructions:

Sign in with your Microsoft account.

Select the device that needs service, then select Next. If it isn't registered, select Register device.

Follow the instructions to complete your service order.

For damaged devices (Cracked screen, liquid damage, or physical damage) select the corelating issue type.

If you’re able to turn on your Surface, be sure to save any important files and info from your Surface to another computer, drive, or cloud storage service like OneDrive. For more info, see How to prepare your Surface for service.
Important: We highly recommend that you back up your data if you can do so. We won't be able to recover it for you.

What is the warranty on my replacement Surface after service is complete?
The post-service warranty is 90 days or the remainder of the warranty, whichever is greater. If your device was outside of the Limited Warranty, you'll get a 90-day service warranty.
Microsoft Complete Coverage
If your device has Microsoft Complete Warranty coverage and your device has been damaged, the service fees are listed below and follow these instructions.

Service centers for in-person support
In some countries and regions, Microsoft now offers service centers that provide in-person support. Service centers offer enhanced support including professional hardware inspection, troubleshooting, and system recovery. If the service center associates aren't able to resolve the issue, they could do a repair (in limited locations) or they can help facilitate sending your device to Microsoft for repair or replacement.
