We often observe how our customers use Family Safety and have found that the same feature is used for different purposes across different platforms. Therefore, we have made a few changes to Family Safety to provide you with more control over your family’s safety.

The deadline is February 29, 2024.

Yes, you need to log in to family.microsoft.com to review your options and migrate to the new Family Safety. If you fail to do so by the deadline, default settings will be applied. You can always visit the Family Safety website to review and adjust these settings.

You will also need to update the Microsoft Family Safety app to get the latest experience and ensure compatibility with the updated Family Safety experience.

Features like Screen Time and App Limits now have the option to split across platforms or revert to the default time. The rest of the features, such as App blocking and Content filters, will remain the same and be applied across all platforms. Remember, you can always visit the Family Safety website to review and adjust these settings.

If you see a screen that says “Something went wrong” or if the new experience hasn’t been updated, it is possible that the migration didn't go through. In this case, please refresh the page or click on the link you received in the email about the Family Safety changes.

After migrating to the new Family Safety, please make sure that the Family Safety apps on both the organizer and child devices are updated to the latest version (Version 1.26). You can download them from the Play Store/App Store.

No, the migration only needs to be done once. While setting up the new Family Safety, you can migrate the whole family at once.

If you see a screen that says “Getting things ready…”, please allow us some more time while we migrate you to the new Family Safety.

No, there is no way to switch back to the older experience.
