Note: Change applied throughout July and August 2024, if changes to a video file through Stream were made before this date, it has already generated new versions and has not been removed
Any changes on a video in Stream for transcript and chapters will not generate a new version.
This only apply in Stream because video files tend to be very large and consume lots of space against your OneDrive and SharePoint storage quotas. On other scenarios versioning will continue to work as is.
The following actions will still create a version in the version history:
-
Editing column metadata in SharePoint document library for a video file
-
Editing the video title or description
-
Replacing the file with a new different version of the file
-
Adding audio tracks
-
Toggling media settings (show/hide about video, chapters, interactivity, comments, analytics, etc.)
-
Other operations outside of the Stream app
The following actions will NOT generate a version in version history:
-
Adding or editing chapters, and transcripts
-
Toggling transcript media settings
Preservation Hold and file deletion and restoration continue to function as is today.
