When using the Snipping Tool to record your screen, you can make videos more accessible by adding audio and captions with Clipchamp. This article will show you how to use Clipchamp to add audio descriptions and captions to a snipped video.

To add captions and audio to a video clip you have captured, follow the below instructions:

Add captions

After recording the video in the Snipping Tool select the Edit in Clipchamp button to open the video in the Clipchamp app.  

  1. Select the Captions tab from the sidebar to open the property panel.

  2. Select the Transcribe media button and it will open the Transcribe with AI dialog.

  3. Select the required language from the dropdown. Optionally, you can select the checkbox to filter profanity and offensive language.

  4. To generate captions for your video, select Transcribe media button.

  • To turn off auto captions, select the Turn off autocaptions button.

  • Select the Download captions button to download the SRT file.

  • To hide the captions in a video, select the Hide captions in video checkbox.

Add audio

  1. When the video snip is opened in Clipchamp, select the Audio tab to open the property panel.

  2. Select the Detach audio button to separate and download the audio file from the captured video.

  3. To access the downloaded files, press the Windows logo key+R to open the Run dialog box and type downloads.

  4. To adjust the volume in the video, select Audio and turn it up or down using the volume slider.

    Tip: Play the video once and check the audio and video parts before saving the snip.
