Frequently asked questions about Help me create in Microsoft 365

Help me create is part of the Microsoft 365 suite and uses Microsoft Copilot to generate content from a prompt. Once it generates the content, it suggests the Microsoft 365 apps, Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, for example, where you can expand upon that content. Depending on the app, it also drops the generated content onto the canvas so you can continue working. 

Help me create combines the power of large language models (LLM) with publicly available Microsoft 365 data to provide content generation suggestions and apps choosing recommendations, to help you stay productive in the workspace leveraging all the capabilities that Microsoft 365 suite provided.

• Hand off your generated content to another Microsoft 365 app for further Copilot-aided content generation

Yes. You need a Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscription (a business subscription) to use Help me create. Help me create is not yet available for consumers.  

• Help me create was evaluated through extensive manual and automatic testing on top of Microsoft internal usage and public data. More evaluation was performed over custom datasets for offensive and malicious prompts (user questions) and responses. In addition, Help me create will be continuously evaluated with user input via standard Feedback SDK.

• Providing feedback via the thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons will aid in teaching Copilot which responses are and are not helpful to you as a user. We will use this feedback to improve Copilot, just like we use customer feedback to improve other Microsoft 365 apps and services. We don't use this feedback to train the foundation models used by Copilot. For more information, see Manage Microsoft feedback for your organization.

• Help me create is available in a number of languages. The quality of the content that's produced is expected to be highest in English, while in other languages the quality is expected to improve over time. To learn more, see Supported languages for Microsoft Copilot.

• The Help me create integration with other Microsoft 365 apps varies based on the type and purpose of the app. This means that in some cases, Help me create will copy the generated text into your selected app (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). In other cases, you'll have to copy and paste the generated text manually (Forms, OneNote, Lists, Sway, Loop, and Viva Engage). In certain situations, only an app recommendation can be made (Clipchamp, Visio, Stream, PowerBI, and Whiteboard).

• The content in Help me create is AI-generated, so we highly recommend users review all suggestions before accepting them.

• Links are not supported as prompts in Help me create at this time.

Help me create is currently reviewed by our Responsible AI team. We follow RAI principles and have implemented:  

• Responsible AI handling pipeline to mitigate the risks including harmful content, inciting or encouraging harmful actions, stereotyping/demeaning or over- and underrepresenting social groups, prompt injection “jailbreak”, ungrounded content & fabrication, and cross-domain prompt injection attacks.

• In product user feedback with which users can report offensive content back to Microsoft.

Help me create is based on a text-based large language model (LLM). If the prompt is asking for help creating something that is not text-based (“Help me create a video…”, “Help me create an image/picture…”), Help me create won't be able to create it so will only recommend the best Microsoft 365 apps for that intent.  

Help me create generates content based on the GPT-4 LLM, which was trained on common language patterns found throughout the internet. Sometimes its results will be very similar to existing internet content. Help me create might generate the same or very similar content for multiple people who are prompting Help me create in the same way. 

Help me create writes in a fluent, grammatically correct way, but the content it generates can be inaccurate or inappropriate. It can’t understand meaning or evaluate accuracy, so be sure to read over what it writes, and use your judgment.   

While these features work to avoid sharing unexpected offensive content in results and take steps to prevent displaying potentially harmful topics, you might still see unexpected results. We’re constantly working to improve our technology to proactively address issues in line with our responsible AI principles. 

As with any AI-generated content, it's important that you review, edit, and verify anything it creates for you. 

Help me create includes filters to block offensive language in the prompts and to avoid synthesizing suggestions in sensitive contexts. We continue to work on improving the filter system to improve detection and removal of offensive outputs. If you see offensive outputs, please submit feedback in Microsoft 365 using the thumbs-up and thumbs-down buttons found on the right side of the Microsoft 365 header so that we can improve our safeguards. Microsoft takes this issue very seriously, and we are committed to addressing it.
