Release Date:

3/13/2018

Version:

OS Build 14393.2125 and 14393.2126

Note The release also contains updates for Windows 10 Mobile (OS Build 14393.2126) released on March 20, 2018.

Improvements and fixes

This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

  • Addresses an issue that causes the touch screen to remain unresponsive. In most cases, using the Power button to turn the screen off and on restores responsiveness. Occasionally, at startup, the touch screen remains unresponsive, and the only recovery mechanism is to restart the phone.

  • Addresses an issue that delays the on-screen keyboard from reappearing when an external keyboard or scanner is used with device. With this customization, an OEM can define the delay value. For more information, see On-screen keyboard delay.

  • Addresses issue with printing XML documents with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.

  • Addresses issue where Internet Explorer stops working when using F12-based developer tools.

  • Updates legacy Document Mode cell visibility in Internet Explorer.

  • Addresses issue where Internet Explorer is unresponsive in certain scenarios when a Browser Helper Object is installed.

  • Addresses issue that causes online video playback to stop responding.

  • Addresses issue where an AD FS server issue causes the WID AD FS database to become unusable after a restart. This might prevent the AD FS service from starting.

  • Due to recent work with our antivirus (AV) partners, AV software has now reached a sustained level of broad compatibility with Windows updates. After analyzing the available data, we’re lifting the AV compatibility check for the March 2018 Windows security updates for supported Windows 10 devices through Windows Update. We’ll continue to require that AV software be compatible. Devices with known AV driver compatibility problems will be blocked from updates. We recommend that customers check installed AV software compatibility with their AV provider.

  • Addresses issue in which WPF applications that are running on touch or stylus-enabled systems may stop working or stop responding after some time without any touch activity.

  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Microsoft Windows Search component, Windows Desktop Bridge, Microsoft Graphics component, Windows Kernel, Windows Shell, Windows MSXML, Windows Datacenter Networking, Windows Installer, and Windows Hyper-V.

Note This update isn't available with express installation files for Windows Server 2016.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

For more information about the resolved security vulnerabilities, see the Security Update Guide.

Windows Update Improvements

Microsoft has released an update directly to the Windows Update client to improve reliability. Any device running Windows 10 configured to receive updates automatically from Windows Update, including Enterprise and Pro editions, will be offered the latest Windows 10 Feature Update based on device compatibility and Windows Update for Business deferral policy. This does not apply to long-term servicing editions.

Workaround

Some Windows Server 2016 (WS2016) AD FS features (such as Device Authentication and OAuth Discovery) can fail to work if the following conditions apply:

  1. One or more WS2016 AD FS servers have been added to a WS2012R2 AD FS server farm that has had KB4041685 (or later Monthly or Preview releases) installed.

  2. The server farm has been upgraded to the WS2016 Farm Behavior Level.

  3. KB4088787 has been installed on the WS2016 AD FS farm.

If you believe that you are impacted by this issue, please contact Microsoft Support.

After installing the March 13, 2018 or later Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 1607, only the latest Windows 10 feature update is returned as applicable. This prevents the deployment of previously released feature updates using ConfigMgr (current branch) and Windows 10 servicing plans.

This issue is resolved in KB4103723.
