If there is a problem with the printer or printer driver, the connection to the printer might have been disabled, or some printer settings might have been hidden. You can try the following common solutions to fix the problem.

  • Run Microsoft Update. For more information, see Update Office and your computer with Microsoft Update.

    Note: If your Microsoft Office product was installed with Microsoft Office Click-to-Run, use Click-to-Run Product Updates instead of Microsoft Update. In Office 2016, click File > Account > Update Options, and then click the option you want.

  • Go to the printer manufacturer's website and try to update the printer driver.

  • If you are on a network, contact an administrator.

Troubleshoot printer problems in Windows 10

  1. Open Devices and Printers by pressing the Windows logo key + S and typing "Devices and printers" in the search box.

  2. Right click on the printer and select Troubleshoot.

  3. Follow the steps in the wizard.
